Two Swiss men's teams make it through qualifying and pick up points in the group stage

For the first time in 24 editions of the men's tournament in Gstaad, two Swiss duos made it through qualifying and into the main draw: Heidrich/Jordan and Krattiger/Dillier. This means that a total of three Swiss teams will represent Switzerland in the main draw of the anniversary tournament, including the directly seeded team Haussener/Friedli.

In the first match of Group D, qualifiers Heidrich/Jordan pulled off a first surprise with a 2:1 win against the top-seeded Capogrosso brothers from Argentina. Krattiger/Dillier, who had to face the Czechs Perusic/Schweiner in the pouring rain, also won their first match of Pool E 2:1. Later in the evening, Haussener/Friedli (Pool F) were challenged by the two Dutchmen Luin/Immers and lost by a very narrow 2:1 in the end.

Three Swiss women's teams in the main draw of Gstaad

After the qualifying round on Wednesday, three Swiss teams made it into the women's main draw of the Swatch Beach Pro Gstaad. The young Swiss duo Bossart/Demierre had to give way to the two French players Vieira/Chamereau. Therefore, Switzerland will be represented in the group stage by Niederhauser/Bentele (Group D), Hüberli/Kernen (Group B) and Zoé/Anouk (Group F) and has a real chance of success in the rest of the tournament. ‘After 25 years, it's time for a Swiss women's team to finally make it onto the podium again,’ emphasised Zoé Vergé-Depré at the media conference in the run-up to the tournament.
