Latvian world champion Tina Graudina is competing this year in Gstaad alongside 18-year-old Liva Ebere. The change comes after her regular partner, Anastasija Samoilova, withdrew from the tournament for personal reasons. For the young Liva Ebere, it is her first Elite16 tournament. She is proud to have the opportunity to compete in the Bernese Oberland. 

"Gstaad is beautiful. I hardly want to go back home," she said, impressed by the mountain scenery of the Saanenland region.

To prepare for the event, the pair competed together at the Latvian Championships. 

"It was good preparation for us. We didn't want our first match together to be in the qualification tournament in Gstaad—that would have been too stressful," Graudina said. 

She admitted she was initially surprised when Samoilova informed her that she would not be competing in Gstaad. Now, Graudina and Ebere are aiming to stay in the tournament as long as possible, although they are keeping their expectations realistic. 

"For us, it's more important to enjoy the experience and help Liva understand what it's like to compete at the Elite16 level. And of course, we also want to enjoy Gstaad," Graudina said with a smile. 

On the court, the new team has made an impressive start, winning all of their matches so far. Their partnership may continue beyond Gstaad.
